Three Ways to Help the List

There are several ways the subscribers to this free list can help it to continue and thrive.

1. DONATIONS - The best way to help keep the list alive is simply by making a voluntary donation. Donations are the most important form of support for the list and I thank you in advance if you benefit from my free list in some way, tangible or intangible, and feel motivated to send something.

Who donates? Every year a small proportion of the subscribers and dealers who use the list give something. The number of people and firms is, unfortunately, not nearly as large as it could be.

Why do they donate? Some just want to help because they derive enjoyment and learn from the list. Also, even though the list is free to all, I allow commercialism in reasonable doses. Buying, selling, and trading are important aspects of collecting. The result is that many dealers and individuals derive a portion or all of their income through online sales using this "free" list.

What do they donate? Those who benefit from the list are encouraged to share by giving some support for the list - either with a cash donation, or in-kind with pen-related items. Some people occasionally donate computer equipment, software, or other items. I do not enforce this but depend upon the goodwill of those involved. I do declare advertising and sales revenue as income and pay taxes on it. I can render a receipt for those of you who keep books and consider a payment here as a legitimate business expense.

PAYPAL MAKES DONATING EASY. One easy way to donate is through the online banking enterprise at PayPal.com where you can donate using cash or your credit card. You do not need a Paypal account to use Paypal.com for a donation, and you can also leave a message with your donation. Use the direct link in the left bar on this page to make a donation through PayPal. This leads to a form that fills in most of the blanks for you. It's easy and secure. Thank you.

2. Ordering Books, Music, Videos, Software, Electronic Equipment, Toys, etc. from Amazon.com - Another way you can support the list is to link to Amazon.com through this web site. You can order all the books and music you want at Amazon.com's regular very low prices. By ordering through this link the pens list receives a commission which costs you nothing but helps pay for the site and the pens list. Thanks for taking the extra trouble. Your order information is, of course, confidential (we receive a report of "hits" but not your names, etc.)

3. Advertising - I started accepting just a bit of advertising during March 2000. My intent was to give some exposure for pen-related enterprises without altering the experience for my list subscribers.

The advertising takes two forms - banner ads on the web pages that explain and support the Zoss Pens List, and also advertising boxes on the side of the page.

The new system rotates ads from up to three main site advertisers. All three get banner ads on the pens list web site. In addition, each gets the ad space at the bottom of pens list messages for one month in each billing quarter (so each of the three banner advertisers gets one full month's space each calendar quarter at the bottom of the actual list messages).
