How to Send Messages In Plain Text BACKGROUND: Many people have trouble reading e-mail messages sent to the Zoss pens list that have "fancy type." The use of special fonts, colors, bold face, and other embellishments are fun for those with the software to read the message but a terrible inconvenience for those who do not have the software, not to mention the extra size of the messages. For these others, the extra encoding in the messages to turn on the special features just looks like garbage. To some, especially when reading digests, the extra stuff actually causes a software crash. THE REQUEST: For this reason we ask, as one of the four simple rules of the pens list, that messages be sent to everyone in plain text. (For a list of the four basic rules CLICK HERE.) THE PROBLEM: Software supplied by many packaged internet suppliers, like AOL but also others, may not allow you to send messages in plain text. This is odd because plain text is the internet default. These suppliers are trying to re-write the rules but, despite many complaints worldwide, they seem intent upon ignoring the conventions.
THE SOLUTION: There is a web site that offers solutions for nearly every mail-reading piece of software, and almost all versions. There are even solutions for versions of AOL. With permission of that site, I am happy to recommend you to go to: http://www.expita.com/nomime.html Good luck! CLICK HERE TO RETURN
