This is the fourth of five pages acknowledging the support of list subscribers. For several years my policy was to list supporters of the list and include photos, comments, links, and so forth. The Zoss Pens List is a free mailing list for people interested mostly in collecting fountain pens, although it also covers a lot of different subjects. I occasionally send a reminder that people who benefit from the list (especially those using the free list to make money) might consider a contribution to the list. This listing was a way of acknowledging those who have supported the list, either because of their gains or, in the case of many, just out of goodwill. NOTE: In more recent years I have discontinued this listing. Several donors prefer to remain anonymous and I felt subjecting some of these "invisible" friends to criticism for apparently not donating was against my rules regarding civility. This page reflects early history of the Pens List but these pages have proven very popular to visitors so I leave them accessible. This section is not being maintained. Apologies for broken links, etc.
Page Four of Supporters of the Zoss Pens List The Zoss Pens List is a free mailing list for people interested mostly in collecting fountain pens, although it also covers a lot of different subjects. One of the messages regularly sent is a reminder that people using this free list to make money might consider a contribution to the list. This listing is a way of acknowledging those who have supported the list, either because of their gains or, in the case of many, just out of goodwill. In addition to a large stock of vintage and new pens and other writing instruments they handle diamonds and precious gens, jewelry and other interesting things. Terry is athe source of Private Reserve Inks, with many wonderful gem-like colors, samples of which were donated to the list. You can buy this fine ink from your favorite quality pen dealer. Thanks to you both!Knights in Shining Armor - Several subscribers heard the news in September that my ISP was raising my charges more than $100 per month because of heavy list traffic and immediately rode to the rescue with donations. I'd like to thank:
June 2000 Larry Gilbert Syndicate Auction - Larry purchased a ball point pen - pencil set in my "grab bag" at this year's Chicago pen show. Little did I know what he was up
to when he snapped this photo of me holding the set (he's added an inset photo showing the initialed set). Soon, he was auctioning the set off to subscribers for the benefit of the list, described as
"the Tom Zoss 1979 LE Papermate Stainless Steel Initialized Ballpoint Set Mint In Box." The price kept going up and more people opted into a group that became known as "The Syndicate" which became
the auction winner. Each winner has a photo of the pen set being held by Tom Zoss (see photo to right), a blotter, and the Mandarin Yellow Bic. Syndicate member Ray Adams also gave each member a
bottle of Hero Ink. [click on the photo to see another version submitted by Larry!] Thank you all for this creative support.
Richard L. Shelby - offered a donation for each of several NOS Merlin 33 fountain pens (celluloid with 14K gold nibs) which he sold. His business is at http://www.pensations.com. He also had Private Reserve ink on sale with a donation to the list. He also sent along a sample of Private Reserve in Tanzanite (which I love). You should check out his ink at http://www.privatereserveink.com, it's great! Private Reserve is sold by many fine dealers. Thank you, Richard, for the generous contribution to help support the list, and to all list members who purchased his products. Pallozzi Auction - Joseph Pallozzi conducted an online auction for an assemblage of stuff (a book, magazines, and a P21) which was won by Bobby Geo. Roberts. I thank you both again. Tarpinian Auction - John King Tarpinian, a good supporter of this list, has continued the tradition with another auction. This one, in his own words, "with some more fun stuff to auction off in support of Tom Zoss and this list. I'm calling this the Sheaffer Fun Pack, no pens just stuff. The bundle includes a lovely bright red glossy Sheaffer gift bag, three scratch pads; one for the Legacy 2, another for the Balance and finally for the Prelude. The pizza-de-resistance is the Sheaffer "picture frame." Actually, it is a display top easel that is designed to hold Sheaffer literature. But it will hold an 8x10 glossy of your favorite pen or maybe one of the family." The winner was Ray Adams, the owner of Wood 'N Dreams, a company that offers an interesting and unusual line of fine writing instruments. Visit his web site to check them out at http://www.friends.together.com/wnd/. Thanks for your continued support, Ray. Fritsche Auction - Bernadette Fritsche also offered a Sheaffer Prelude for the support of the list and (no, you're not seeing double) the winner here, too, was Ray Adams (see above listing). Again, I thank you both for your support. Edelman MB Auction - Eric Edelman shared his appreciation with the list by offering for auction on this list a brand new, unused, never been written with, GENUINE PRECIOUS RESIN, Mont Blanc #163 rollerball. It came in a box and he inclided some refills. Happy winner and donor to the list was Donald Schilling. Thanks MUCH to you both! May 2000
