This is the fifth of five pages acknowledging the support of list subscribers. For several years my policy was to list supporters of the list and include photos, comments, links, and so forth. The Zoss Pens List is a free mailing list for people interested mostly in collecting fountain pens, although it also covers a lot of different subjects. I occasionally send a reminder that people who benefit from the list (especially those using the free list to make money) might consider a contribution to the list. This listing was a way of acknowledging those who have supported the list, either because of their gains or, in the case of many, just out of goodwill. NOTE: In more recent years I have discontinued this listing. Several donors prefer to remain anonymous and I felt subjecting some of these "invisible" friends to criticism for apparently not donating was against my rules regarding civility. This page reflects early history of the Pens List but these pages have proven very popular to visitors so I leave them accessible. This section is not being maintained. Apologies for broken links, etc.

December 2000

Platinum y2K LE PLATINUM PEN - Scott Woodside, proprietor of Woodside Works, LLC., the U.S. distributor for Japan's great Platinum Pen line, has donated one of the last special limited edition pens to commemorate the new Millennium. It's actually coming in about a month so it's nice to know just a few are remaiining and they are on sale to Zoss list members. It is a large and beautiful pen, their first limited edition in 5 years. It is made of ebonite in a ten-sided shape with an 18K white and yellow gold nib. The pen comes complete with warranty papers, beautiful redwood giftbox, cartridge, and converter. Only 500 were produced worldwide. All pens are numbered. For more information CLICK HERE or write to: Woodside Works, LLC., Platinum Pen, 110 Beech Lake Court, Roswell, Georgia 30076, telephone 800-887-5886 or Fax 770-992-0288. Thanks for your support.

November 2000

New Lambrou Book CLASSIC PENS - Andreas Lambrou, who is just publishing "Fountain Pens -- United States of America and United Kingdom"offered a special commission of $10 per book for purchasers from the list. Several of you ordered the book and the first installment of $120 has been received for which I thank the author, his pen business, and the subscribers.

PENDEMONIUM - Sam is a long and constant supporter of this list and I'm sure members reciprocate. Shortly after their move to Fort Madison Sam announced an ink set sale, with support going to this list. Donations have been sent in honor of the following: Don Nelson (2), Tracy Nelson, Marion Rood, Ann Barry, Deb Kinney, Bob Roberts, Jack Kline, Vince Vicari, Randy Clifford, and Jeff Ash. Thanks to Sam Fiorello and those on the list! Check out the Pendemonium web site by clicking HERE.

Dove Grey P51 Mike McConnell - Mike offered to auction a Parker 51 in dove grey to the list, and donated the winner's payment. Ira Aaron won the auction. Mike is an artistic type who then went on to donate some software to the list. That he has mant talents is demonstrated by the beautiful pen scans on his web site, one of which I've borrowed to show here. Thanks to both of you.

Howard Simms, Esq. - Howard has also donated a pen for auction, another P51 in grey with a GF cap, so I'll let the same illustration stand for both! This one was won by Robert E. Tuthill, CLU. Thanks to you both for finding another way to help the list.

Alexandra Nyfors - Alexandra offered a commission donation upon the sale to another subscriber of her Zoss LE pen, then used the PayPal link to make that donation. Thanks a lot!

Weaver McCracken - Weaver is another long-time subscriber, who has again sent along another cash donation, also using the PayPal service. Your support of this list is greatly appreciated.

Ronald Gill - Ronald has also used the PayPal service to send a cash donation and I thank you.

Don Jacobson - Don is a new collector but sees value in the list and has donated already, using the PayPal service. Thank you, Don, and welcome.

Anonymous Auction Donor - One long-time friend of the list also donated a pen for auction through another auction service, and I want to thank Nancy Sevith for again making a supportive purchase.

Anonymous Donors - The quarterly check from Amazon.com has arrived, and since the use of this link on my web site brings a contribution but no names (it's completely anonymous) I thank you if you order through the list - whoever you are!

Barbara Ann Olszewski - Barbara sent a cash donation to the list, which is much appreciated.

Carla Mortensen - Carla promised a donation when selling some items on the list and just donated what she called her "tithe" using PayPal, which sure cuts down on the paperwork. Thank you very much, Carla.

October 2000

Swisher Pens - Chuck Swisher has been a supporter from his early entrepreneurial days. He recently held an auction that produced a nice donation to the pens list, thanks to support from Deb Kinney, Nancy Sevitch, Steven Scharf and Don Jacobson. The support is very much appreciated.

Mike Madison - Mike is a fairly new collector but already a supporter of the list by sending a cash contribution. Thanks, Mike.

Carla Mortensen - Carla has sent a nice cash contribution to the pens list, again expedited by PayPal. Donations from individuals are carrying the day lately and I really appreciate this support.

Kurt R. Hammerbeck and Lisa Hanes - Kurt donated a hefty Ashford coupon, and Lisa donated to the list to get it. PayPal expedited the transaction. Thank you both.

Tardiff Pens Nathan Tardiff - Is he a dealer, an alchemist, a magician, a craftsman? Well, he's a dealer (because he sells pens), but he's also an alchemist because he turns pieces of odd stuff into gold), and certainly a magician (because his fans swear he produces wonderous things out of nothing), and he is most certainly a craftsman (because he, just, IS). Nathan has been a regular supporter of the list, usually with an assemblage of interesting donations. This time he included one of his own pens. This is a 1 of 1 LE featuring a Diplomat German pen body, with a vintage Sheaffer 14K Triumph nib and radial feed and what he calls an "aerometric bulb filler" that uses the suction method like the old Vacumatic to carry a huge amount of ink which is dispensed with care and precision by the beautiful Sheaffer nib. Check out this photo showing the pen and matching ballpoint, then CLICK HERE or on the photo to see his web site with more information galore, including the details of the filling system. Nathan also sends me an occasional faux Parker (a pen made somewhere in the world to look like a Parker), and even sent me a fake Rolex watch from China! Nathan can be e-mailed by CLICKING HERE or check out his web site because his pens write with great sensitivity and his LEs are a whole lot cheaper than many others for more value. Thank you, Nathan.

Wood 'N Dreams - Of the dealers who are selling on my list Ray Adams, proprietor of Wood 'N Dreams, is probably the most consistent supporter. He has again sent a nice donation after using the list to sell some of his interesting products. They include the Thomas Jefferson Sterling Silver Dip Pen, Dani/Trio Fountain Pens, Hero Fountain Pens (which I think are a great value and interesting to show around), Cesare Emiliano Fountain Pens (well made, inexpensive and well designed Italian pens), Green Mountain Fountain Pens and Private Reserve Inks. Please check out his web site by CLICKING HERE. Again, Ray, I thank you very much.

Kane Overlay Pens Kane B. Boutry and Lisa Hanes -Kane operates Kanepen.com Fountain Pen Overlays in Vancouver, Canada. He offered a complete new STATUE OF LIBERTY overlay in support of the Zoss list. The auction winner of this beautiful pen was Lisa Hanes. Lisa says, "The list has been an incredible resource for me and I'm pleased to be able to help out." Thank you Lisa! Thank you Kane! (click on the small image or HERE to see a larger array of Kane's beautiful works of overlay art, or CLICK HERE to e-mail Kane for more information about his overlay pens)

Cesare Emiliano LiraJohn King Tarpinian Auction - Well, John King, ably assisted by Hal Arnold of Pen Restoration Services offered a batch of goodies which included a Cesare Emiliano Lira fountain pen which has an octagonal matte-finish in gunmetal gray with accents of briarwood and gold plate, over brass, with a gold plated medium stainless steel nib. These pens are handcrafted in Italy and comes in a velvet presentation case. Also offered were two bottles of original QUINK (one black, one blue, in their boxes), two bottles of original Sheaffer (one Azurblau, one Noir Jais, in their boxes), and one uninked Medium Targa nib, in its original plastic tube. All were shipped free by their donors to the winner, who was Richard Cassidy. I thank all of you for your support of the list.

Kailash L. Ramchandani - Kailash is a Value Added Reseller in the Philippines and an avid member of this list. He heard I was interested in pens from unusual places and sent as a donation several pens I had never seen from China. He has an interesting web site and also a pen site you should visit. Thank you, sir!

More Knights in Shining Armor - Following up on last month's news that my ISP was raising my charges more than $100 per month I also had cash donations from the following individuals:

  • Catherine S. Alloway
  • Nancy Sevitch (donation for Ashford.com coupon donated by Steve Emery)
  • Barbara Ann Olszewski (donation for coupon offered courtesy of Larry Snyder)
  • Kurt Hammerbeck - Knowing I collect all sorts of odd brands, Kurt donated a fine specimen of a "Good Service" pen from this small Chicago company, for which I extend my thanks.
